WHAT IS DEPRESSION?
Depression is a common but serious illness. Most people who experience depression need some type of treatment to get better. Some common common symptoms are:
Depression, even the most severe cases, is a highly treatable disorder. Psychotherapy has been shown to be extremely effective in treating depression. I use a dual approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy combined with interpersonal therapy to treat depression. Some clients choose to also work with a physician who will prescribe an antidepressant medication to take in conjunction with psychotherapy.

- Persistent sad, anxious or empty feelings
- Feelings of hopelessness and/or pessimism
- Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and or helplessness
- Irritability and/or restlessness
- Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable, including sex
- Fatigue and decreased energy
- Difficulty concentrating, remembering details and making decisions
- Increased or decreased sleeping
- Overeating or loss of appetite
- Thoughts of suicide
- Persistent aches or pains, headaches, cramps or digestive problems
